Job Title:
Executive Director
Supervised by: Board of Directors
Schedule: Part-Time Exempt with flexible schedule

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the development of Lancaster Dollars for Higher Learning (LDHL), its policies and procedures, financial oversight, staff, and the execution of its mission. The ED will lead the organization in fund development and develop deep knowledge of operations, donor base, business plans, and the strategic plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Board Administration and Support

Support operations and administration of Board by advising and informing Board members and interfacing with Board and staff
Ensures compliance with policies and regulations both internal and external (local, state, federal)
Provide information requested by Board by established deadlines
Leadership & Management
Ensure ongoing excellence, rigorous policies and procedures evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals
Actively engage and energize LDHL Board members, donors, committees, volunteers, and applicants
Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors: serve as ex-officio member of each committee, seek and build Board involvement with strategic direction
Lead, coach, develop, oversee, supervise, and retain LDHL's Office Manager position
Ensure effective systems and regularly evaluate loan program components in order to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the Board, donors, and other constituents
Fundraising & Communications
Provide a vital and positive external presence for the organization
Responsible for the creation, supervision, and implementation of the annual action plan for marketing and fundraising and of an organized annual giving program (working with Development Committee)
Responsible for the creation and direction of an ongoing program to raise major gifts and to encourage estate-related giving (with Development Committee)
Responsible for the process of identifying, researching, and recording information on major individual, corporate, and foundation prospects (with Development Committee)
Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities
Responsible for the program of acknowledging and recognizing gifts
Responsible for policies and programs to tell LDHL’s story to its target markets and to the broader community (working with Public Relations/Marketing Committee)
Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand and recognition
Responsible overall for the creation and distribution of all press releases, feature stories, the annual newsletter, and all materials designed to increase public understanding and build stronger relationships with the LDHL’s constituents, assisting the Public Relations/Marketing Committee, Office Manager and other committees as requested and as needed.
Responsible for creating and implementing evaluation tools to ensure marketing and fundraising efforts are meeting or exceeding objectives
Responsible for researching and writing grant requests
Works with Finance Committee to ensure review of fiscal and investment policies
Works with Finance Committee to prepare annual budget
Approves budgeted invoices and serves as check signer
Mission Statement: The mission of Lancaster Dollars for Higher Learning is to provide financial resources to Lancaster County residents in support of their post-secondary educational goals.

The ED will be thoroughly committed to LDHL's mission. All candidates should have proven development and management experience. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:
A college degree; track record of effectively leading a performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth
Ability to learn and competently use software and other systems used by LDHL
Excellence in organizational management with the ability to manage staff, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and have an innovative approach to business planning
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
Self-directed and possess integrity, passion for higher education, and a positive attitude
Because the organization is dedicated to providing assistance to Lancaster Countians and the Executive Director is the “face” of the organization, prefer resident of Lancaster County who is and will be active in the community.
