Summary of essential job functions


Develop recipes and educational material that align with the standards of Power Packs

Provide input for development of the organization's strategic plan, and oversee implementation of operations and distribution activity in line with the board approved strategic plan

Develop operational processes, procedures, and tasks to ensure efficiency and reporting oversight for all regional programs.

Review, evaluation and modification of existing processes, activities and tasking to support an effective and efficient operating environment for product receiving, storage and logistical movement of product.

Provide an effective inventory management/control system to ensure inventory accuracy and maximize warehouse utilization including oversight of the weekly, monthly, and annual physical inventory counts.

Build relationships and negotiate contracts with food sources including manufacturers, vendors, and food banks to maximize access to food within budget constraints.

Maintain inventory for local program and orders food to supplement donations to maintain a reasonable choice in each pantry within COO’s guidance and budget restrictions.

Manage receiving, storage and distribution of product to each region.

Work with the development team to ensure that all donor reporting and requirements are met.

Ensure that complete and accurate records are maintained of products received and distributed, including donated food and food from government programs.

Collaborate with procurement committee to ensure the smooth, efficient operation of Power Pack’s food acquisition and distribution process.

Participate in the development and management of the annual operating budget.

Provide timely and accurate reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors as required


Oversight Regional Programs


Responsible for technology software creation and/or implementation, maintenanceplans, upgrades, server back-ups and sensitive information security.

Manages the transportation and logistics programs to move product to regional program

Provide supervision, including regular supervision meetings, training, and evaluation to the operations staff.

Provide leadership to operations in regional programs with focus to increase efficiency of distribution of product.

Provide oversight for the maintenance of the equipment

Research and make recommendations to regional directors and distribution coordinators concerning leases, major purchase agreements, and contracts.

Provide clear, concise instruction to operations staff, including regular communication of staff expectations.

Conducts facility audits

Train regional staff and volunteers on personal and food safety requirements appropriate to their role to ensure a safe distribution center.

Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations as well as Feeding America’s safety policies and procedures

Forecast long term operations, facility and equipment needs for each region

Ensure operations staff complete and submit appropriate paperwork and receipts on time and in accordance with organization policies and procedures

Provide accountability for assigned task, duties, and projects.

Perform all other duties as assigned by Executive Director


EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in direct operational management (warehouse management, distribution, purchasing and logistics) with appropriate supervisory experience

Minimum 3 years of directly related experience leading distribution center operations.

Operations experience working within the food supply chain or emergency food system preferred.

Effective at developing and maintaining strong positive relationships both internally and externally.

The individual will also be flexible, motivated and resourceful, with effective problem solving and analytical skills.

Self-starter with the ability to work independently and effective.

Excellent planning and organization skills.

Ability to resolve conflicts and facilitate meetings.

Ability to interact positively with a diverse community of staff and volunteers

Ability to use Microsoft Office software, databases, MS Ceres Navision, and/or other inventory/financial software programs.

Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.

Ability to implement an annual budget and to track expenditures.
